Event: A Night with Nurtured TX: Fundraiser and Mixer

Time: 6-9 PM CST
Location: Paggi House, 200 Lee Barton Dr, Austin, TX 78704
Your ticket includes admission to the event, complimentary beer and wine for 2 hours, soft drinks, water, and three-pass canapés. Dressy casual or cocktail attire is encouraged. Valet service is available for free at the Loren Hotel (tipping is appreciated).
Join us to connect with fellow Kristi's List Providers, past and present Board of Directors, and community partners. Together, we will celebrate our history, successes, and future vision for Nurtured TX. During the evening, Paggi House will feature an art exhibition themed around the inspirations of The Loren Art Collection — science, nature, architecture, and the environment — showcasing both collection artists and local Austin talent.
Please note that the virtual silent auction will end at 8:30 PM. Winners can pick up their auction items at the end of the event, or items will be distributed the following week.

The event will kick off with an elevated happy hour at The Cathedral, starting at 4:30 PM, where we’ll mingle, listen to good music, have crafts you can partake in, enjoy drinks and lite bites, and toast to the incredible dedication of birth professionals.
Afterward, we’ll transition into a casual food and bar crawl through local spots we love. Together, we’ll explore some of the neighborhood's favorite gems, savoring delicious food and drinks while deepening our connections and supporting the cause.
Whether you're a birthworker, someone passionate about maternal care, or simply looking to contribute to a worthy cause, this is the perfect opportunity to come together, relax, and make a difference. Let's celebrate those who give so much and ensure they have the resources to continue their work!

GALS is partnering with the Maternal Health Equity Collaborative and Dell Children’s Health Plan to host the biggest event to date!
Baby Shower / free garage sale
We expect over 500 individuals and families to join us, receiving free baby items, pregnancy and postpartum supplies, and household goods. People who are pregnant or who have young children are welcome!
We are accepting donations from individuals through September 30th. You can also host a community drive. Collect items from now to October, and then bring the sorted/organized items to the storage unit or shower space in October.

Community Consortium Meeting
Thank you for joining us at our Community Consortium meeting.
Below, we have included a form for you to fill out to confirm your interest. The form will also gather your input on what you hope to gain from this consortium and topics you'd like to discuss in our next meeting.
Please mark your calendars: we meet every third Tuesday of the month from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Our next meeting is scheduled for August 20th. During this session, we will focus on social care interventions, addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) collectively, and identifying potential data sources or reports to include in our efforts.
We also invite you to share your perinatal needs assessments with the group, as they will be crucial for our discussions and planning.
Lastly, if you know of other organizations that align with our mission, please invite or refer them to our next meeting. Together, we can make a significant impact.

Connection Matters: Family Reunion
WE'RE TURNING TEN! Join us for a party - family reunion style!
PIP will welcome 200 guests to Vuka North for a celebratory evening filled with a silent auction and raffle. The Paci Pull is back with other games, an "awkward family" photo booth, delicious tacos and Texas BBQ, and a DART Collective DJ spinning some classic vinyl!
All proceeds from the event will go back to creating community and connection for new parents in 2024.

Join MSVW for our Winter Childbirth Preparation Workshop featuring our facilitators, Paula X. Rojas, and Dominique Adeniyi. This will allow pregnant individuals to learn about the various stages of labor, different labor positions, recovering postpartum, and more! Childcare and lunch will be provided for this full day event. Attendees should dress comfortably and bring a water bottle. Please complete this survey after you register.

About Paula X. Rojas
Chilean-born community organizer, midwife and social justice trainer Paula X. Rojas was licensed as a midwife in 2014. Paula became a doula in 2005, after a traumatic birth experience while on Medicaid. In 2012, Paula co-founded Mama Sana Vibrant Woman. Paula served as Director of Education and Training at MSVW until 2020. Paula currently supports families at MSVW and LAMP as a community midwife while working on a national project linking birthing justice with police and prison abolition work. She is the mother of two amazing kids, Xue-li and Camino, and loves to dance!
About Dominique Adeniyi
Dominique Adeniyi is passionate about Black Maternal Health and improving birth outcomes for underserved folks in her community. She has many roles, serving as a Student midwife, Full Spectrum doula, Birth Photographer, and Program Administrator for a local nonprofit organization. However, most importantly she is a dedicated member of the birth worker community. As a mother who experienced her own birth traumas, Dominique has found healing by actively uplifting and empowering Black birthing folks. Her mission is to create a safe space for expectant parents to receive empowerment, support, education and nurturing care.

Maternal Health Equity Press Conference & Rally
On Dia de los Muertos, join advocates and their supporters to demand action on Texas’ maternal health disparities
You are invited call to action to prioritize people over politics by immediately releasing the 2022 Texas Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee and Department of State Health Services Joint Biennial Report.
The last report, released in 2020, determined that most pregnancy-related deaths were preventable, Black women are more likely to experience pregnancy-related death, and additional study of maternal health disparities was necessary.
Now, for the first time ever, the most recent report on how many Texans die as a result of pregnancy or childbirth complications is not planned to be released before the Texas Legislature convenes in January.
